Hello one and all. I decided to start my first blog on Superbowl Sunday because I don't give a crap about the New England Patriots or the New York Giants. All I know is that Jessica Simpson should be banned from Texas Stadium and Tony Romo should be fined for vacationing before the biggest game of his life. Today's game will either be close or an absolute rout. I think it will be closer than expected. I'm picking New England by nine. Currently, the spread is 12 1/2.
My name is Will Hutson and I am a criminal defense lawyer in Waco, Texas, and I love to go deep sea fishing. That photo was taken about six months ago approximately 80 miles off shore in the Gulf of Mexico. That's a big damn fish (a "ling", look it up) and he put a good fight and he was great on the grill. Other things that I love include my wife, guns, hunting, red meat, top shelf bourbon, beer, barbeque, shooting dice, country music (not that crap you hear on commercial radio - I mean REAL music, like George Jones/Merle Haggard/Waylon Jennings-type of music), South Park, the Constitution (warts and all), Labrador Retrievers, cigarettes (although I quit on January 27, 2002), good cigars (I'll never quit that) and my very large, diesel guzzling Dodge truck. I feel like I'm doing a "turn ons" list in Playboy. Just mentioning that stuff makes smile.
What are my turn-offs? What makes my brain chew on itself? Cats...and People who spend their time arguing over creationism vs. evolution. We are not meant to know how God (oh yeah, I'm a Christian and damn proud of it) did what he did and I'm fine with that. I think God knows what he's doing, whatever the answer is. And why do we need to know the answer anyway? We're here, right? Isn't that all that really matters? Whether the Earth, Man, the Animals (God Bless Eric Burden) were created in six days or developed over the last few billion years, what are we worried about? Being wrong? I think that's it. We're more worried about being wrong than we are about being learning how to get along. And don't get me wrong, I love a good fight as much as anyone does. I just don't like fighting ALL THE TIME. Anyway, where was I? I'm not right about a lot of things, but I'm right about this one thing: There is a GOD and I AIN'T HIM. He's GOD. He can do (and does) whatever he wants. I'm glad he's in charge. You should be, too. That's one less thing to worry about; I've got enough crap on my plate as it is. You'll forgive me, I went to church this morning and I'm "filled with the spirit".
I also don't like our current political process. I don't like that the States are trying to move their respective primaries to earlier and earlier in the year. The danger here is that a party (either democrat or republican) might get stuck with some idiot or idiotess that they really don't know that much about. I mean, hell folks, it's JUST February 3. What if the Super Tuesday primaries decide the question of who are candidates are? What happens if in the next nine months we find out something horrible about one of them (as every last one of them isn't horrible enough already)? Then we're STUCK! Can't live with them and can't kill 'em, not because that would be such a bad thing to do but it would be a crime. Now is NOT an original idea (I'm not talking about killing the candidates), I heard Tony Snow on the Paul Harvey Noon News show talk about having regional "Super Primaries", where the states would be geographically grouped and then they would rotate who goes first every four years. I can see the good and bad in this. The good is obvious: the states can't move the dates up. The bad is also obvious: First, how do we decide which group gets to go first? Second, a candidate who is one of those states in the "first" group may have an unfair advantage with picking up delegates early on and looking like a strong contender, causing other candidates to either drop out, or even worse, completely ignore that primary in order to gear up for their own "group". All I know is that the current trend sucks but no system will be perfect. Also, I don't think that a woman is electable. I'm not saying that I'm against it. I just don't think that this country is ready to elevate a woman to the presidency, no matter how much she looks like a man.
Enjoy the Superbowl and go Cowboys!!!
